Home Energy - Gas Electricity

Solar Energy Tariffs
If you already have solar panels, or you are having a new system installed, I can help you arrange a tariff for the electricity your home generates and exports.
There are two main types, depending on when your system was installed and originally registered.
FIT - Original Feed-In-Tariff
The original (Apil 2010 - March 2019) UK qualifying solar installations can still benefit from the original government-backed guaratnteed Feed-In Tariff scheme often called the "FIT" will continue to pay for 20 years from registration.
I can help arrange the transfer while preserving the terms of your existing FIT agreement.
Some original contracts have increased substantially over the years through their agreed index-linked payment rates, so it is important that the existing entitlement is handled correctly.
SEG - Smart Export Guarantee
Most newer solar installations (April 2019 Onwards) use a Smart Export Guarantee tariff. This pays you for eligible surplus electricity exported back to the grid.
SEG is particularly relevant to newer solar and battery systems, where the household may store some electricity for later use and export the remaining surplus back to the national electrcity grid
EV's Electric Vehicle Tariffs

If I'm in an existing energy contract, is it worth checking now?
Absolutely Yes - prices change all of the while. I can check to see how you're present rate could be improved. If you decide you'd like to reduce your energy costs, I can usually arrange to get you out of your existing contract.
Do I need to switch Gas & Electricity?
No, you can swithc either, or both Gas & Electricty. I will show you what the various benefits are so you can decide for yourself what would work best for you
I have a Solar PV System with a feed-in tariff where I get paid for my excess generation. Is this something you can review for me?
Yes, most definitely - I can help with any aspect of domestic home energy.
Can you help me, I live outside Charnwood Borough?

Part-Fibre Broadband (PFTC)
Part-fibre connections use fibre for part of the journey, with the final section into the property normally using the existing telephone line.
It can work perfectly well for many households, but the available speed may depend on the property and its distance from the local cabinet..
Full-Fibre Broadband (FFTC)
Full-fibre brings the fibre connection directly into the property. It requires a new cable installation.
It can provide faster and more consistent speeds, particularly for busy households using several connected devices.
Whole Home WiFi
Broadband is the physical connection delivered to your property. Wi-Fi is the wireless signal that allows your phones, televisions, tablets and other devices to use that connection around your home.
I won’t simply arrange your broadband and leave you with a router and an instruction leaflet.
I can help set up your router, connect your home Wi-Fi and make sure everything is working.
In suitable homes, I may also be able to retain your existing Wi-Fi network name and password, helping your devices reconnect without everything having to be set up again individually.

Home Telephone Landline
Home Telephone is your traditional home phone in your house, often with internal phone extensions or DECT phones. All traditional home phone lines, sometimes called "Landlines" are being changed to the latest digital VoIP. This a nationwide change that applies to all households.
Many people still use a home phone and some people are required to have a home phone by their profession (e.g. senior Emergency Service Officers)
Keeping your existing home telphone number is usually important to maintain continuity with family, medical doctors, hospitals, care services etc.
I will arrange for your existing number to be transferred over, or you can have a brand new local number if your wish.

Can we have full-fibre at our address?
I'll be able to check your address and see if Super fast Full Fibre is yet available to your home
How fast can the Broadband actually be?
If your home can have Full-fibre then you have a choice of three speeds: 150Mbps, 500Mbps or 900Mbps. And these are guaranteed minimum.
If your home is still only connected by Part-fibre the the speeds are normally 38mbps or 67-70Mbps
Will the home WiFi signal extend to cover our whole house?
Yes, we supply a Whole House WiFi System. I'll explain more when we chat
Is the WiFi Secure?
Yes, the WiFi uses the latest encryption techniques and extensive password options
Will I need to change all my home WiFi device settings that connect?
No, the new WiFi can be configured to use the same settings as your previous one, so all your home devices will simply connect to the new WiFi automatically
Can we have a fixed IP address Broadband?
Yes, having a fixed IP address is an option - we simply request it when ordering your new Broadband connection
If I have an existing broadband contract, will I be able to switch to save money?
Usually Yes, but it does depend upon what your existing contractual exit fee is. I can help you with this, and usually I can arrange for a significant contribution to cover all, or most of your exit fees. I'll explain more when we chat
I have some TV channels linked to my Virgin, Sky or BT Broadband. Will I lose the TV channels?
I'll show you how to get the same TV channels, but via a much cheaper way, so helping you save even more

Is Temporary Internet a Long Term Contract?
No - It's Monthly renewable, so min one month and then auto renews until you cancel.
How quickly can I get on-line?
Normally orders are sent out next working day if placed before 4pm. Your Router is sent vai recorded and tracked delivery.
When it arrives, plug it in, and connect. Provided you're in a 4G/5G area then you'll be on the internet almost immediately
Is it really simple to connect?
Yes, we supply your router pre-confidgured. You plug it into power and you will see your WiFi Name (SSID) come up on your own devices (Phones, Laptops etc) and you use the secure Password to connect.
We do our best to make it as fool proof as possble.
Is the WiFi Secure?
Yes, the WiFi uses the latest encryption techniques and secure password
What areas in the UK does it work in?
The Router Box connects to the mobile phone data networks whihc cover 99% of the UK population. 5G Coverage is the quickest and often quicker than a home broadband.
